Plasterboard Partitions

Drywall partitions on metal framing, wall linings and plastering: fixed, acoustic and fire-rated separation, with ready-to-paint finishes.

Dry lining

Fixed separations,
high-performance and compliant

A plasterboard partition (drywall) consists of a metal frame clad with plasterboard, with mineral wool insulation in the cavity. It is fixed, economical over long runs and offers excellent acoustic and fire performance.

CBI builds standard, acoustic and fire-rated EI30 / EI60 partitions, wall linings, service risers and casings, with neat finishes (taping, jointing, skimming) ready for painting.

It complements the demountable partition: it is chosen for permanent separations, wet rooms, risers and walls requiring a high fire resistance.

Acoustics

From 40 dB to over 60 dB (Rw) depending on the thickness, the number of boards and the decoupling of the frame.

Fire-rated

EI30, EI60 and beyond with special boards, for stairwells, corridors and separations between units, compliant with Swiss AEAI/VKF fire safety regulations.

Wet rooms

Moisture-resistant boards for bathrooms, kitchens and changing rooms, ready for tiling or suitable paint.

Finishes

Taping, jointing and skimming for a flat, ready-to-paint surface; protected corners and expansion joints.

What affects the cost

Every project is unique: the price depends on the area, the type of partition and the finishes. CBI provides a free, itemised quote within 48 hours. The main factors that affect the amount:

  • Partition area and height
  • Number of boards per side and board type (standard, moisture-resistant, fire-rated, high-impact)
  • Required acoustic or fire-rated performance
  • Number of openings: doors, fanlights, passageways
  • Service risers, boxing-in and geometric details
  • Level of finish (ready for painting, full skim)
  • Site access and work in occupied premises

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Any other questions? See our full FAQ or call us on +41 76 626 16 66.

What is the difference between a plasterboard partition and a demountable partition?+
A plasterboard partition is fixed, economical over long runs and performs very well acoustically and in fire; it is demolished when the space is reconfigured. A demountable partition is modular and can be re-erected elsewhere. CBI installs both and advises you according to the length of your lease and how your spaces are likely to evolve.
What is a fire-rated EI30 or EI60 partition?+
EI stands for integrity against flames (E) and thermal insulation (I) for 30 or 60 minutes. These partitions are required in certain corridors, stairwells and separations between units, in accordance with the Swiss AEAI/VKF fire safety regulations.
Can a plasterboard partition be installed in a bathroom?+
Yes, using moisture-resistant boards and treating the base of the partition. The surface is then finished with tiling or a paint suitable for wet rooms.
How long does it take to build a plasterboard partition?+
The framing and boards are installed in a few days, followed by taping, jointing and drying before painting. The full programme is set out in the quote.
How much does a plasterboard partition cost?+
Every project is unique: the price depends on the area, the type of partition and the finishes. Free, itemised quote within 48 hours.
