How much does a glazed demountable partition cost?+
Every project is unique: the price depends on the floor area, the type of partition and the finishes. CBI provides a free, detailed quote within 48 hours, after reviewing your drawings or visiting your premises.
What factors influence the cost of an office fit-out?+
Mainly the area to be partitioned, the choice between single and double glazing, the acoustic performance required, any fire-rating requirements, the finishes (profiles, integrated blinds, decorative films, doors) and site access conditions (floor level, working hours, occupied premises). The quote itemises each of these.
What is the difference between a demountable partition and a plasterboard partition?+
A demountable partition is a modular system (aluminium profiles, glazed or solid panels) that is dry-assembled, can be taken down and reused. A plasterboard partition is fixed, built on a metal frame, then skimmed and painted: it is more economical over long runs and suits permanent divisions. CBI installs both and advises you according to the intended use, the length of your lease and how your spaces are expected to evolve.
How long does it take to install partitions in an office?+
For a standard office floor, installation generally takes from a few days to two weeks depending on the area, the number of doors and the associated works (ceilings, electrics, decoration). The manufacturing lead time for the demountable partitions comes on top of this; it is stated in the quote along with a works programme.
Can a demountable partition be taken down and reused when relocating?+
Yes. That is the main advantage of the system: the modules can be dismantled, transported and reassembled in a new layout or new premises. CBI handles the dismantling, refurbishment and reinstallation, replacing only worn components.
Do I need permission to install partitions in rented offices?+
The written consent of the landlord or property manager is normally required for any alteration to leased premises. Depending on the canton and the nature of the works, a notification or permit may also be needed, particularly where escape routes or fire safety are affected. CBI helps you prepare the drawings and documents to be submitted.
What acoustic performance should you plan for a meeting room?+
For a meeting room or executive office, the target is generally a sound reduction index of around 40 to 48 dB (Rw) with a double-glazed partition and a door fitted with acoustic seals. Single glazing is more in the region of 35 to 38 dB. The treatment of the ceiling and junctions is decisive: CBI proposes the solution suited to the level of confidentiality you need.
What is a fire-rated EI30 or EI60 partition?+
EI denotes a tested fire resistance: E for integrity against flames and gases, I for thermal insulation. The number gives the duration in minutes (30 or 60) for which the partition maintains this performance. Such partitions are required in certain corridors, plant rooms or separations between units. CBI installs fire-rated demountable and plasterboard partitions that comply with the Swiss AEAI/VKF fire safety regulations in force.
Which towns and cities do you cover?+
CBI is based in Carouge (Geneva) and works throughout French-speaking Switzerland: Geneva and its canton, Lausanne, Nyon, Morges, Montreux, Vevey, Yverdon-les-Bains, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Sion and the Valais. We operate in Switzerland only.
Do you work with architects and property managers?+
Yes. A large share of our projects is carried out for architects, engineering consultants, property managers and general contractors. We work from drawings, attend site meetings and coordinate our work with the other trades.
Is the quote free? How quickly will I receive it?+
The quote is free and without obligation. Once we have received your drawings or visited your premises, you receive it within 48 hours, itemised line by line.
Can you work in occupied premises, in the evening or at weekends?+
Yes. We regularly work in offices, shops, schools and hotels that remain in operation. Noisy or dusty works can be scheduled early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, with occupied areas protected. These constraints are built into the programme from the quote stage.
Acoustic ceiling or plasterboard ceiling: which should you choose?+
An acoustic ceiling (mineral tiles, perforated timber, rafts) absorbs noise and remains demountable for access to services: ideal for open-plan offices, meeting rooms and schools. A plasterboard ceiling gives a smooth, continuous finish with neatly integrated lighting: it suits reception areas and executive offices. The two are often combined on the same floor.
What is a raised access floor for?+
A raised access floor lifts the floor on pedestals to create a void for data cabling, power, air conditioning or ventilation. The panels are removable: each workstation can be reconnected or moved without building works. It is common in offices, server rooms and plant rooms.
What is a movable wall and when should you use one?+
A movable wall is a partition made up of panels sliding on a ceiling track, which can be moved and stacked away to open up or close off a space in a matter of minutes. It can divide a conference room, a training room, a restaurant or a classroom, with good acoustic insulation when closed.
Do you handle the full interior fit-out?+
Yes. CBI covers all interior fit-out trades: partitions, ceilings, raised access floors, plastering, decoration, floor coverings, joinery and fit-out. We also coordinate the electrical, ventilation and lighting contractors to deliver a turnkey project with a single point of contact.
What finishes are available on a glazed partition?+
Blinds integrated between the panes, frosted or decorative films, screen printing, laminated or acoustic glass, glazed or solid doors, flush or framed, your choice of handles and door closers, profiles powder-coated in the colour of your choice. More than 20 partition profiles are available to suit the architecture of your premises.
